The Inspiration Behind the Art
Recently, I completed a challenging task that sparked the inspiration for my latest artwork, Echelons of Ascension. This piece is about personal and artistic growth, the journey we all take through life’s milestones, both big and small.
At its core, Echelons of Ascension is about progress. The kind of progress we all experience as we stumble, trip, and (sometimes) gracefully leap through life’s milestones. Each echelon, or level, in the piece symbolizes a step forward—a moment of reflection, growth, and improvement. It’s a reminder to pause and recognize the strides we make, whether they’re major breakthroughs or subtle shifts.
Personal Growth: More Than Just the Big Wins
Life is full of notable milestones – getting that dream job, achieving a personal goal, or celebrating an anniversary. But it’s not just the big wins that matter. The small, daily victories are equally important. Every step, no matter how small, contributes to the bigger picture of who we become. This artwork is a reminder to pat yourself on the back for progress, no matter how small.
Additionally this artwork reminds us to celebrate those everyday moments of growth, the subtle shifts that build over time and transform us. It’s about embracing every step, whether it’s a full-on leap or a tiny shuffle forward. Progress is progress, right?
Growth Takes Intention
Real progress doesn’t just magically happen (unfortunately – how cool would it be if it did?). Real progress takes real intention. It takes effort. And if we’re honest, it sometimes takes a strong cup of coffee. Whether it’s in our personal lives or in our careers, every step forward – however small — are the seeds of future change.
As Mahatma Gandhi wisely said, “The future depends on what you do today.” That sentiment is at the heart of this piece. Each echelon represents a decision, a moment where growth is made real through action.
